Australia
"G’day"
If it wasn't for the fact that this "down-under" country is so far away, I'd be there for a weekend visit. Getting there is miserable, even with the Qantas Airline non-stops from LAX. Geri and her Mum, Edna have been friends of mine for 27 years. Neither of them are computer nerds . So, if you want to ask about up-to-the minute Australia information you can e-mail her friend: Louise near Brisbane, Queensland. Whether you want to escape into the Outback, spot koalas on Kangaroo Island, or climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Australia.com has the information to let you plan your Down Under adventure.

Vegemite is the yeast spread that they use down
there on everything from toast to lambchops. It's the " salsa/ketchup"
substitute. You need to check out this darling website that tells you about
it: http://www.vegemite.com.au/

Mexico
"Bienvenidos"
Thanks to Western Airlines I have been exposed to many wonderful Mexican cities: Mexico City, Guadalajara, Ixtapa-Zihuatenejo, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta. It would take a long discussion to tell you all my feelings about these great places. Recently I've spent a lot of time in PVR. Here's some beautiful photos that show why I love the Mexican state of Jalisco.

Pinecrest/Dodge Ridge
When I was in school my family went camping in various Northern California places. Richardson Grove on Hwy 101 was the place we hung out when we were very young. Later we enjoyed the Pinecrest Lake Campground because it was closer to the bay area. (2 hours vs. 6 hours). My parents purchased a cabin in the Stanislaus National Forest and we still own/lease it today. Pinecrest Lake is named for a majestic mountain that rims the deep blue lake. Pinecrest is accessible year 'round.

Wintertime at Dodge Ridge ski resort Check out their website http://www.dodgeridge.com/ This is where my two sons learned to ski and snowboard. This is about 20 minutes up the hill from our cabin.

Summertime at Pinecrest Lake
If you drive from the LA area, the Sierra Nevada mountains are almost 7 hours away up Hwy 99. From the Bay Area it's less than three hours to find all the peace and serenity you want. Pinecrest Lake Resort is the perfect family getaway. There are great hiking trails, tennis courts, sailboat and paddleboat rentals. Come on up with me and we can share my Dad's outboard fishing boat for a spin around the lake. Maybe we can catch some fish. You can learn a lot from the great "nature" programs at the ampitheatre. Check specific details out on the resort's web site.
